Kenyans MCA turns to technology to cut down youth unemployment

Kenya member of Kericho County Assembly has turned to technology as a way of reducing youth unemployment in his ward. In an initiative dubbed 'Ajira Digital initiative, Eric Bett of Kipchebor has for the last week introduced 80 youths to online work

"Youth unemployment is one of the biggest challenges leaders have to address in Kenya. In the last few weeks I have been consulting with ministry of ICT from national government and county government to roll out the initiative." The MCA said in a statement

The training which kicked off at ICT center Kericho entailed overview of online work, web research, virtual assistant, transcription, digital marketing, account creation - Fiver, account creation - upwork, account creation - Guru, soft skills in online work, sign up for payment methods and bidding process. 

"This initiative is in line with my agenda of youth empowerment by exploring alternative forms of employment and address youth unemployment. Nine years ago while in campus pursuing undergraduate studies I encountered challenges to finance my education until a friend introduced me to online work. I know this training will be of great help to the youth in our ward." Said the the youthful MCA
